Blob’s bio says that he is “not the most intelligent of individuals, [but] the Blob makes up with brute force what he lacks in brains.” And yet he has an Intelligence rating of 2/7, the same rating as Wolverine, Cyclops, and HIGHER than, of all people, Rogue (talk about prejudice against Southerners). I’m sure the 2/7 rating is a general catch-all for average brains, but why make a point of it in the biography at all?
I would’ve preferred a wider shot of Blob’s drawing, but Jim Lee certainly uses Blob’s size to generally good effect here. It would’ve been a stronger choice as well to portray his ability to not just be fat, but really be able to absorb almost all kinetic impact just by standing still (he’s like a reverse Juggernaut in that case, who’s most invulnerable when moving). The side-B portrait shows him in a stupid 90′s backward hat, which, I gotta admit, works for him (plus he’s got that spunky pout going)
