Subject: Cyclops
Real Name: Scott Summers
Height: 6’3″ Weight: 175 lbs.
Group Affiliation: X-Men (Blue Strike Force)
First Appearance: Uncanny X-Men #1, September 1963

Power Ratings:

  • Energy Projection: 5/7
  • Mental Powers: 2/7
  • Strength: 2/7
  • Fighting Ability: 4/7
  • Intelligence: 2/7

When we’re all done here I’ve got to do some analysis to try to see if there was some logical reason why Cyclops’ card doesn’t show up until number 17 in the series. I know I won’t come up with a satisfactory answer.

If there’s one thing to be said about Cyclops’ card, it’s that it’s all solid. I always thought Jim Lee did a good job portraying Cyclops’ cool, leadenly, stable, just slightly douchey persona. His body shape, pose, and hairstyle always worked for me. The card is no different, from the powerful pose in the front to the cornfed headshot in the back (though it’s a little heavy on the chin).

His ratings are decent enough, though the rating of 2 for Intelligence seems a TAD insulting… I guess he’s not the deepest pouch on the belt, but I figured he displayed more tactical aptitude than this is giving him credit for. I guess a 2 for Mental Powers that he absolutely doesn’t have is meant to be a consolation.

Like Cannonball, being 6’3 and only 175 pounds for someone built like him is pretty impossible.

That actually never crossed my mind until this was published this morning. I still think 6′ 150lbs is tougher than 6’3″ 175 pounds.

Basically whoever wrote those statistics never had any muscle in real life, so never realized that, well, muscle is heavy.

Cyclops is the coolest X-Man ever. Thank you Stan Lee for creating the greatest X-Man of all time.
